Validating answers in a survey

You can validate the answers to questions in a survey. By displaying an error when an answer is invalid, you can ensure that the information that users provide is accurate and in an expected format.

ClosedTo perform the validation when the user submits the survey:

  1. Click Designer Studio > Survey Management.

  2. Click Edit next to the name of a survey.

  3. Expand the Advanced section.

  4. In the Validation field, press the Down Arrow key and select the name of an edit validate rule that evaluates the values of properties that are mapped to questions in the survey.

  5. Click Save.

ClosedTo perform the validation when the user submits a specific question page:

  1. Click Designer Studio > Survey Management.

  2. Click Edit next to the name of a survey.

  3. Click View/Edit next to the name of a question page.

  4. In the Edit Page dialog box, expand the Advanced section.

  5. In the Validation field, press the Down Arrow key and select the name of an edit validate rule that evaluates the values of properties that are mapped to questions on the same question page.

    For example, you can verify that the user provides a phone number for each name on the emergency contact question page.

  6. Click Save to close the Edit Page dialog box.

  7. Click Save.
